I can’t find my mother’s old MX anywhere in her house or mine. This led me to do the reasonable thing and pick up a pretty great condition Pentax ME Super, a couple used but optically fine lenses for cheap, a few rolls of HP5 Plus, a handful of Tri-X, and stick all the goodies needed to start wet development of black and white film in my Amazon wish list. Justified by telling myself that the lenses to the old MX can be added to the assortment when found and stuff.

So, what horribly innapropriate things can I do with high-end B&W film out of the bestest 35mm SLRs ever made? Other than pictures of cats, the internet already has plenty of those.

P.S. Could you guys keep an eye out for 40mm pancake lenses with K mounts? They seem to be getting hard to find.

Class Act

I have been informed that Magpul has posted this to their Facebook:

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents’ ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue.

Our customers outside of Colorado, please know that our PMAG production will continue at an ever-increasing rate until we do relocate, shipments to our distributors in other states will continue, and that we do not expect relocation to significantly impact PMAG production. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

Full details and instructions will be announced when we are able to go live; please watch here for the coming announcement.

I ordered a set of MOE carbine length handguards* on principle when they threatened to leave Colorado and will now have to order some 20 round Pmags when they take orders again as another little thank you.

*Which may go on a future loaner-rifle build.

Out Of Money

After saving for a while, my wife and I picked up climbing harnesses, rope, locking carabiners, helmets, chalk bags, an ATC, GriGri 2, figure 8, and a spare harness in what I hope is the correct size for friends to go with should they ever want. A weird feeling when you set money aside for so long and it just bursts out of your wallet in one trip to the store.

Passing Of The Blade

My father just handed a Spanish knife to me and told the boy that it will be passed to him when I decide he is mature enough to carry it:
