Ordered an inexpensive AR lower despite my general dislike of the platform*. I’ll build a no-frills carbine with a light barrel and rail-less round handguard for newbies at the range and maybe one of the kids will want it when they get older.
I might even get an A2 upper just to rile the feathers of some HSLD types.
* Largely at my wife’s encouragement. “That’s all the lower costs? Buy one even if just as a little way to tell Feinstein to pound sand.” Okay.

I want to make one with one of those one-piece polymer lowers. super lightweight, just because. Probably going to be a while before I do, now…
Put an A2 upper on it, only use a birdcage flash-hider, track down some triangular handguards, use a 1 in 9″ barrel, and only feed it 20 rounds mags without anti-tilt followers. It will piss everyone off.
Ooooooo, electrical tape a 2-D MagLite to it!
I like it.
